This year marks the seventh season for the Dallas Civic Wind Ensemble. The ensemble performs across the DFW Metroplex and has performed in venues such as the Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas City Performance Hall, St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, and Wilshire Baptist Church. In 2011 the ensemble was a featured performing group at the Texas Bandmasters Association convention in San Antonio. The ensemble presented a student day clinic featuring the music of the TBA featured composer John Mackey. The ensemble also gave a concert to the general membership as part of being a featured ensemble.
The DCWE was founded by Preston Prior and Corey Rom in the Summer
of 2010. The ensemble operates as a not-for-profit group that strives to produce balanced concerts of educational value that present a wide variety of quality music to our audience. It is in our mission statement to commit to the highest performance standards and play the highest quality of music composed for the wind band medium. The ensemble aspires to and will: commission works, engage guest artists and conductors, play in high-quality venues, provide
an artistic outlet for talented musicians, and provide a meaningful and educational experience for the public and especially students. The Dallas Civic Wind Ensemble is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Many of our members hold Master's or Doctorate degrees in performance or related musical fields and also perform with other noted groups in the area such as the Dallas Wind Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, and Dallas Symphony.
